MNAs condemns Supreme Court's controversial decision in Mubarak Sani case

Tuesday's session of the National Assembly (NA) was echoed by parliament members condemning the controversial SCP decision in the Mubarak Sani case. When the law minister tried to speak against the statement from Peer Syed Zaheer ul Hassan Shah in the session, Abdul Qadir Patel said that it is the judges earning hundreds of thousands in salaries from the state who are trying to push the country towards anarchy. Hanif Abbasi, an MNA of the ruling party, said that the SCP had falsely interpreted the constitution in its decision in the Mubarak Sani case. He read the 298-C from Ordinance XX 1984 and said that it refrains qadiyanis from preaching/propagating their religion in any way. "How can the SCP misinterpret it and allow them to preach their religion?" He told the speaker of the house.

Sahibzada Hamid Raza, chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council also criticised the SCP's controversial decision and said that how is it possible that two people sit down and rewrite the constitution in whatever way they want to allow non-Muslims to misinterpret the Holy Quran. Ali Muhammad Khan also lambasted the SCP's ridiculous points in the decision where it said that the qadiyanis are allowed to propagate their religion within a building. "If somebody is killed within a building, it's considered murder a crime. How can an illegal activity become legal inside a building?" He said it was an unacceptable attempt to rewrite the constitutional amendment passed by the House in 1974.

Many other members including Abdul Gahfoor Haidri of JUI also vocally criticised the decision. After the various MNAs demanded action against the decision of the SCP, the speaker of the NA referred the matter to the parliamentary committee of law and order and summoned its urgent session tomorrow (Wednesday).
