A three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP) will be hearing the Government of the Punjab (GOP)'s plea for the correction of a very controversial judgement in the Mubarak Sani case on Thursday at 11.30 AM. In a video message, Mufti Munib ur Rehman has called for the removal of all the controversial and unnecessary content from the judgement. "The case before the court was about the bail of a person for which a judgment of even half a page is enough," he said in the video message released on his official social media pages. The chief patron of Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan (TLP), Peer Qazi Mehmood Awan, has requested the general public to reach SCP on Thursday at the time of the hearing.
A Qadiyani (also commonly known as Mirzais) named Mubarak Sani, was imprisoned during his trial for distributing the falsified and banned exegesis of the Holy Quran. In his plea to the Supreme Court to grant him bail, the SCP not only granted him the bail rather added a few more controversial things in its judgment on February 6, 2024. It stirred up the sentiments of the general public and religious scholars. After many voices were raised against the judgment, the SCP agreed to review the case and issued a rather more controversial ruling on the 24th of last month. The latest judgment also allowed the Qadiyanis to preach for their religion which is even against the constitution of 1973 through the second amendment and the Ordinance XX of 1984. It has fomented public sentiments and scholars from all sects have rejected the ruling declaring it against the Holy Quran, the Hadith and the constitution of Pakistan. TLP is very vocal against this decision and has organised many rallies and sessions for awareness against the judgment since then. Fearing a wide-spread movement, the GOP filed a plea on Saturday for SCP to correct its decision which is fixed for Thursday morning now.
